1. What is the most important concept you learned this semester? Explain the concept briefly and discuss why it is important.
Technology, in particular internet 2.0, is the most useful tool a "global citizen" can use. The internet can be used to break communication boundaries by sharing opinions freely, discovering the vast amount of perspectives on a topic and collaborating on questions that are being asked about the most important issues of our day.
2. From all the new knowledge you gained in this class, choose 2 facts or ideas that make the biggest impression on you. Explain.
I gained knowledge on blogging. Blogging can be your job and it has etiquette and protocols just like any other professional medium.
I also learned from the presentations compiled by my peers, in particular George Witte's and Ryan Galindo's . George had interesting facts on global arms trade and Ryan made me more sympathetic to clones.
3. What 3 skills will you take from this class, and how will you use them in the future?
Using my Diigo ,Wikis and search engines. Diigo and search engines will be vital for research projects in college and understanding Wikis and blogs will be valuable for sharing my knowledge and opinions for feedback.
4. Look at the 4 global competencies (objectives) for the course. Which objective do you feel you developed to the greatest degree?
What did you learn about that objective, how did you learn it, and why does it matter in the world?
Investigate the World: Discover and Explore Knowledge. Students will investigate the world and their place in it by identifying a global topic or question of their choice for semester-long research and exploration. Students will use international and multimedia sources to examine and collect information about their topic.
I feel that I have developed this concept from the curriculum because of the research project.
5. What does it mean to be a global leader in the 21st century?
I think it means to be informed and to avoid ignorance by using the massive amounts of media available in our information age setting. Appropriate and moral use of the internet is a everybody's responsibility; I feel prepared for this after taking this course.
Thank you Ms.'s Moorman and Allen.
